El 22 de octubre, los legisladores que integran el Frente Sandinista de Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional (FSLN) presentaron un <\/span>proyecto de reforma constitucional para penar con cadena perpetua a quienes comentan \u201ccr\u00edmenes de odio\u201d<\/b>. El tema ven\u00eda siendo impulsado por el presidente Daniel Ortega desde mediados de septiembre, tras un resonado caso de violencia de g\u00e9nero. Inclusive hab\u00eda instado a la Corte Suprema de Justicia a redactar el proyecto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

En la actualidad, la pena m\u00e1xima establecida por la <\/span>Constituci\u00f3n Nacional<\/span><\/a> es de 30 a\u00f1os. Por tratarse de una reforma constitucional, el proyecto deber\u00e1 cumplir dos instancias: primero la aprobaci\u00f3n del cambio en el texto constitucional y luego la modificaci\u00f3n del <\/span>C\u00f3digo Penal<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Tanto especialistas en derecho penal como representantes de la oposici\u00f3n temen que, de prosperar, <\/span>el gobierno pueda ampararse en la figura del crimen del odio para limitar la libertad de expresi\u00f3n y el derecho a la protesta<\/b>. El C\u00f3digo Penal vigente no tipifica los cr\u00edmenes de odio pero considera a la discriminaci\u00f3n ideol\u00f3gica o pol\u00edtica como circunstancia que agrava la responsabilidad penal. Es probable que el estudio del proyecto se inicie en la \u00faltima semana de octubre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
