El 14 de septiembre, el presidente Daniel Ortega inst\u00f3 a la Corte Suprema de Justicia a trabajar en una propuesta de reforma al C\u00f3digo Penal<\/a> para reconocer los \u201ccr\u00edmenes de odio\u201d y sancionarlos con pena de cadena perpetua. Las declaraciones del mandatario se produjeron luego de un resonado caso de violencia de g\u00e9nero. Sin embargo, tanto especialistas en derecho penal como representantes de la oposici\u00f3n temen que, de prosperar, el gobierno pueda ampararse en la figura del crimen del odio para limitar la libertad de expresi\u00f3n y el derecho a la protesta. Algunos, incluso, comparan la reforma propuesta con la Ley contra el odio<\/a> de Venezuela, sancionada por la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente en 2017 (ver m\u00e1s<\/a>). El propio Ortega aliment\u00f3 estas dudas al acusar a la oposici\u00f3n de \u201cseguir cometiendo asesinatos, colocar bombas y asesinar familias\u201d, actos a los que tambi\u00e9n calific\u00f3 de \u201cimperdonables\u201d. Actualmente, el C\u00f3digo Penal no tipifica los cr\u00edmenes de odio pero considera a la discriminaci\u00f3n ideol\u00f3gica o pol\u00edtica como circunstancia que agrava la responsabilidad penal.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
